Short summary of research interests:

Our laboratory studies molecular mechanisms of brain injury following stroke and other diseases. We have developed a novel approach to studying injury and disease of brain by examining gene expression in peripheral blood. This can provide a genomic profile of a genetic disease or provide an indication of detailed pathways of the immune responses to brain injury and disease. Current studies include examining animal models of ischemic stroke and hemorrhage, and studying individuals with stroke, hemorrhage, neuromuscular diseases, Tourette syndrome and autism.
