Biography:

Dr. Steffany Bennett is a lipid biochemist, cell biologist, and systems neuroscientist studying neurodegeneration and neuroregeneration. She received her Ph.D from the University of Ottawa in 1995 and completed post-doctoral training at the W. Alton Jones Cell Science Centre, USA, Carleton University, Canada, University of Tor Vergata, Italy, and Harvard Medical School, USA . In 1999, she was recruited to the University of Ottawa and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Immunology, University of Ottawa and the Director of the Neural Regeneration Laboratory. She is also a Visiting Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School (Neurobiology). She is the Associate Director (Education) of the University of Ottawa Insititute of Systems Biology and an Associate Member of the Canadian Centre for Stroke Recovery.
