The China-Ontario Bio-Analytical Consortium (COBAC)
Background
The China-Ontario Bio-Analytical Consortium (COBAC) brings together researchers, clinicians, and industrial partners from Ontario and China with interdisciplinary and complementary expertise. Ontario is a world leader in the development of bio-analytical technologies that have tremendous impact in life science research, the commercialization of products, and the training and retention of highly qualified personnel (HQP). However, the complexity of these technologies and their applications is increasing. This requires access to resources and various expertise from around the world.
The purpose of COBAC is to facilitate exchanges and communication among all stakeholders, promote the application and commercialization of novel technologies, and attract and retain HQP in Ontario.
The consortium focuse on developing novel bio-analytical technologies for research and clinical applications. For this purpose, the consortium will bring together world-class leaders in the field of biotechnology development and application.
Activities
Annual meeting: COBAC organises an annual meeting for all of the members with the goal of facilitating academic and industrial discussions and exchange of knowledge between Ontario and China.
Exchange of primary investigators: We provides opportunities for the primary researchers that are members of COBAC to visit China/Ontario to further enhance activities within the consortium.
Exchange of students and postdoctoral fellows: We provide support for the exchange of students and postdoctoral fellows between China and Ontario for members of the consortium.
Delegation to China: We organize delegations to institutions in China to recruit new members of the consortium and to develop new research activities.
How to become a member of COBAC Researchers, clinicians and potential industrial partners from Ontario and China interested in becoming a member of COBAC need to submit a cover letter describing their interest, a CV, and a brief document on the company (Industrial partners only).
