Keynote Speaker: Pamela Silver

Pamela Silver is Professor of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School and the Director of the Harvard University Systems Biology PhD Program. She studied nuclear transport as an ACS Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University. As a Professor, she has developed novel genetic and cell biological approaches to study and visualize movement of macromolecules in eukaryotic cells. Her interests range from the mechanisms of RNA and protein movement to the use of genomics, chemical genetics and cell-based screens and proteomics in the study of diseases and mammalian behavior. She has recently developed an interest in the emerging field of Synthetic Biology. She has been the recipient of an NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award, an American Heart Association Established Investigatorship, the Harvard Medical School Mentoring Award and an NIH MERIT award. Dr. Silver has served on the Council of the American Society for Cell Biology and numerous editorial and scientific advisory boards.
